Care Guide

Taking care of your ring is easy.

Caring for your ring

All pieces of jewellery must be cared for to ensure they stay beautiful and functional for as long as possible. This often means removing your ring when handling abrasive or corrosive materials that can damage the plating, metal or structure.

You may have heard from unscrupulous vendors that certain rings are scratch proof or invulnerable to damage. These claim are completely FALSE. If a metal were scratch or damage proof, then it would not be possible to shape into jewellery and all the wonderful patterns and styles that make your piece so special. Although the metals we use are very strong, they are not immune to scratches/scuffs, and neither is the plating that all tungsten, titanium and ceramic rings have. So care must be taken when wearing your ring. Below we have some advice for prolonging the luster of your piece.

*Did you know? Tungsten and Titanium metals are naturally dark grey in colour and matte in texture. To give these metals their fabulous colours they must all be plated as they cannot be coloured/dyed. All jewellers plate these metals using different processes. We use a process known as ion plating to ensure the strongest bond possible.

We highly recommend removing your ring for the following activities:

Working out at the gym (metal barbells, dumbells, racks)
Handling heavy/abrasive materials (brick, concrete, steel)
Handling sharp materials (glass and metal)

We also recommend removing your ring if handling corrosive liquids:

Acidic cleaners (chlorine, bleach, mold removers)
Paint thinners or removers
Strong alcohol based liquids (hand sanitizer's, nail polish remover)

How to clean your ring

We always recommend using the microfibre cloth included with your order to clean your ring. Use warm water to dab the cloth and then very gently clean the piece. Using any type of cleaning product should be a last resort, and special care must be taken not to use an acidic or alcohol based agent. We highly advise testing on the inside of the ring first to check for any fading that may occur to the plating.

*For sterling silver rings we recommend professional cleaning or carefully following the many cleaning guides available online. We do not accept responsibility for any damage that occurs from cleaning.

Is wear and tear covered by a warranty?

Wear and tear is the damage that occurs to your ring as a result of being worn/handled and is not considered a manufacturing fault. Wear and tear is not covered under a warranty, much like driving your car and getting a scrape is not covered by the dealership, or staining your shirt is covered by the store.

*Please note: Tungsten, titanium, and ceramic rings are extremely hard. So hard they will not bend under pressure. They will instead break, chip or shatter if enough pressure or a strong enough drop occurs. As this is a property of the metal, much like glass will break or fabric will tear with enough force, it is not considered a fault and not covered under a warranty.

What is considered wear and tear?

Scratches, scuffs or marks
Fading or discolouration
Staining
Breaks, chips or shattering
Bending or crushing (sterling silver)
Melting or exposure to heat
Any damage that occurs from being worn or handled
